A banquet is the most exclusive off all celebrations. Typically it is held to celebrate some auspicious occassion.

This could mean someones birthday party or even the closing evening of a multi-day congress. For this event guests are seated and all food is served with a minimum of three courses or optimally a five course menu. This event is more formal and as such is often (but not always) combined with a program of classical music.
